The maximum towing capacity in the GMC Sierra 1500 is 13,300 pounds when it's properly equipped and it can pack a payload of up to 2530 pounds.

Arguably the coolest part of the new GMC Sierra 1500, in both AT4 and AT4X trims, is the MultiPro tailgate. This versatile feature incorporates built-in hinges to help with loading and unloading, load stopping, second-tier loading, and access to the bed. Within the full tailgate is a secondary cutout that extends to within just a few inches of either side. On the inside is another flap that can hinge up and out toward the back of the truck. When the tailgate is folded down, the inside flap can be deployed in a variety of ways, including as a stopper for an extended load.
